Global Development Institute (GDI) are offering over Nine Masters Scholarships at University of Manchester, UK for the 2016/2017 academic session to candidates from developing countries in Africa and some other parts of the world. Scholarships provide full tuition fee waivers for on-campus masters programmes starting in September 2016.

The GDI Masters scholarships aim is to create and share knowledge to inform and influence policy makers, organisations and corporations, so that they can make positive changes for people living in poverty.

The Masters Scholarships at University of Manchester are provided within the School of Environment, Education and Development. There are specific numbers of scholarship slots for each department within the School of Environment, Education and Development. They are listed below;

  • 2 Development Economics and Public Policy scholarships-MSc Development Economics and Policy and MSc International Development: Public Policy and Management
  • 2 International Development scholarships -MSc International Development, including the following pathways: Development Management; Environment, Climate Change and Development; Globalisation, Trade and Industry; Politics, Governance and Development Policy; Poverty, Inequality and Development; Poverty, Conflict and Reconstruction
  • 1 Human Resource Development scholarship-MSc Human Resources Development (International Development)
  • 1 Development Informatics scholarship-MSc ICT for Development amd MSc Management and Information Systems: Change and Development
  • 3 Management and Development scholarships-MSc Management and Implementation of Development Projects and MSc Organisational Change and Development

Eligibility for Masters Scholarships at University of Manchester 2016

In order to apply for Masters Scholarships at University of Manchester, applicants must follow the given criteria:

  • Applicants must already hold an unconditional offer for an eligible Masters programme
  • Applicants must be a national of and resident in a DAC-listed least developed, other low-income or lower-middle income country (African countries inclusive).
  • Applicants for international scholarships must not have previously studied in an OECD country.
  • Applicants must hold a First class honours Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and an overall score of 6.5 in IELTS (or similar exam), with 6.5 in writing and no other subsections below 6.0.

How to Apply for Masters Scholarships at University of Manchester

Interested candidates should first apply for regular admission for the above listed masters programmes by filling the Application form. Candidates can then apply for the scholarship by clicking this link.

In addition to the above, candidates should also do the following;

  • Applicants should email a 500-word statement detailing how they will apply their learning to develop a credible career track into development leadership.

Closing Date

The closing date for applications for September 2016 will be 29th May 2016, but earlier application is advisable.
