2016 WAEC Result Best In Over 10 Years – FG

The Federal Government claims the the 2016 West African Examination Council (WAEC) is the best in over ten years. The 2016 WAEC result had just been released and candidates have been checking their results some full of smiles and other just satisfied with the result. From the Statistics of the 2016 May/June WAEC results that we have seen so far, that has put smiles on the FG’s faces allowing them claim this is the best result in over 10 years, as more than half of the candidates who sat for the exam passed.

The 2016 may/June WAEC result was announced last week by the Head, Nigeria National Office, WAEC, Mr. Olu Adenipekun shows that 878,040 candidates out of the 1,544,234 candidates who sat for the examination, had credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English, representing 52.97 per cent. He stated that this was a significant improvement from the 31.28 per cent and 38.68 per cent of candidates who passed the five subjects in the exam in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

He also pointed to the facts that out of the total number of candidates who sat for the examination, 1,393,907 candidates,90.26%, have their results fully released, while the other 158,718 out of which 137,295 candidates have their results withheld, representing 9.74%, have a few of their subjects still being processed due to certain errors which could be defects from the candidates and schools either from the registration procedure or while writing the examination or even examination misconduct

Adenipekun further said that, ”Such errors are being corrected by the council to enable the affected candidates get their results fully processed and released subsequently”.

  1. I Think WAEC Should Be More Vigilant In Their Examination Because The Candidates Will Go To Any Lenght To Get Good Grades Due To The New Method Of Points Being Used As One Of The Criteria To Get Admission Into Our Tertiary Institution.
