2015 Masters Students Scholarship At Covenant University

Applications are ongoing for the 2015 Master’s Students Scholarship At Covenant University.  Applications are therefore requested from all qualified candidates for a postgraduate scholarship under the below named project.

Covenant University Bioinformatics Research Group won the 2014 TWAS Research grant with the project titled: “Preclinical Evaluation of Novel Computational-aided Designed Compounds as Antimalarial Drug Candidates “. This research grant provides support for full-time MSc students who will carry out their research under this project in Covenant University, Nigeria.

Applicants may apply to any of the two postgraduate programmes in the Department of Biological Sciences but must be willing to carry out his/her research in the area as provided for by the research project:

• M.Sc, Biochemistry
• M.Sc, Microbiology

Scholarship Value

The total amount of the scholarship is not stated but it would cover the following – Registration for MSc Programme; Full Tuition and Monthly stipend ($200/month).

In addition, successful applicants will have free access to facilities in our Phytochemistry and Molecular Biology Research Laboratories.

Eligibility

The following conditions are to be noted before you send in your application:

• Applicants should have a minimum of a Second Class Lower division in Biochemistry or Microbiology or its equivalent from a recognized University (within or outside Nigeria).
• Applicants should be willing to attend the programme on a full-time basis for 18 months
• Applicants should be articulate, innovative and research minded, able to clearly present his/her work to a diverse audience in English.
• Female applicants are encouraged to apply
• Application is open to all Nationalities.

• Applicants’ CV in PDF specifying postgraduate degree option at the top right hand corner of the CV, saved as first name and Surname e.g. Application CV_Ben_Oyekola
• Applicants’ expression of interest in the postgraduate programme and interest in the next 5 years, on a separate MS-Word Doc. (250 words maximum). Saved as first name and Surname e.g. Expression of interest_Ben_Oyekola
• Applicants should submit their applications on/before 10th February, 2015. Late applications will be disqualified. The Interview Date is scheduled for 16th February, 2015.
