ASCON Public Service Entrance Exam Schedule For 2015 Out – See Details

The Administrative Staff College Of Nigeria (Ascon) 2015 public service examination (pse) schedule is out. Interested members of the public can check below for details as regards the method of payment and registration procedures

The Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) hereby notifies the general public that it has commenced sales of entry forms for the 2015 Public Service Examination (PSE).

1. Date Of ASCON Public Service Examination 2015

The Examination shall take place simultaneously at various Centres nationwide on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th January, 2015 respectively.

As usual, interested candidates are expected to register for the Examination through their employers, or would be employers who constitute the College Client Organisations in this respect.

2. The Public Service Examination is conducted by ASCON for and on behalf of the following Client Organisations:

(i) Federal Ministries/Parastatals/Agencies

(ii) State Ministries and Parastatals/Agencies

(iii) State Civil Service Commissions in the Federation

(iv) Local Government Service Commissions; and

(v) Other interested Public Institutions.

3. PURPOSE OF THE ASCON PUBLIC SERVICE EXAMINATION

The Public Service Examination is designed to test the suitability of candidates who aspire for appointment into the Administrative and Special Departmental Cadres of any of the Public Services in Nigeria. These officers would be expected to:

(I) Write and speak in a lucid, comprehensible manner;

(ii) Possess the ability to think independently and evaluate problems rationally and disppassionately;

(iii) Possess enough drive, initiative and resilience that would enable them perform their duties efficiently.

The Public Service Examination is also used for the screening of serving officers who desire conversion from the Assistant Cadre to the Officer Cadre. It equally provides additional proof in the determination of competence and eligibility of officers for promotion.

4. ASCON PUBLIC SERVICE EXAMINATION SYLLABUS

The Public Service Examination comprises of five (5) papers, namely:

(i) English Language (Essay and Comprehension);

(ii) Logical Thinking;

(iii) Basic Statistics;

(iv) General Knowledge Paper 1 (Essay); and

(iii) Basic Statistics;

(iv) General Knowledge Paper 1 (Essay); and

(v) General Knowledge Paper II (Objective).

Details of each of the papers are reflected in the Examination Syllabus (available with our Client Organisations). Client Organisations are expected to either reproduce copies of the syllabus for distribution to prospective candidates or apply for extra copies at the rate of N200.00 per copy.

5. ASCON PSE 2015 REGISTRATION FEE

The fee payable by each candidate is four thousand five hundred naira (N4,500.00) only. Client Organisations are requested to collect the prescribed amount from candidates and subsequently remit same to ASCON in bank draft(s) only, on submission of completed entry forms. It should be noted that entry forms not accompanied with appropriate fee shall not be processed. Client Organisations are also free to charge candidates additional but reasonable amount to cover the cost of advertisement and processing of entry forms etc.

6. METHOD OF ENTRY

Prospective candidates are required to complete in duplicate the prescribed entry form with two (2) copies of a recent passport-size photographs. Each client organization has the responsibility for issuance of the prescribed entry form to candidates and collection of the completed forms from them. They are expected to submit the completed entry forms (in duplicate) to ASCON which will thereafter release candidates Examination Numbers and Centres. Accordingly, ASCON does not accept examination entry forms directly from candidates. All entry forms must be endorsed. Any form(s) not endorsed, will not be processed.

7. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF ASCON EXAM ENTRY FORMS

All entry forms for the 2015 Public Service Examination must be submitted to ASCON not later than Friday, 19th December, 2014 as late entries might not be accommodated.
