The latest ASUU Strike update is that NANS has urged striking lecturers to go back to the negotiation table with the FG after ASUU announced they are pulling out of negotiations with the Federal Government. They claimed they already reached an agreement with the FG in 2009 and they only want them to implement the terms of the agreement. The Federal Government responded to that by directing ASUU to go back to work while also announcing they are done negotiating with ASUU.
Nothing has happened since in relation to ASUU strike, except, maybe the sack of Education Minister who has announced she is going back to lecture at Bayero University Kano. Now, NANS has urged ASUU to go back to negotiations.

National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has disapproved of the protracted industrial action embarked on by Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, calling on the lecturers to resume negotiations with the Federal Government.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, yesterday, the apex students’ body in Nigeria averred that rather than continuing the strike, ASUU should seek an option ‘B’, which is “to file a legal suit against government, return to classrooms and resume negotiations with government.”
Mr. Yinka Gbadebo, President of NANS said: “We wish to categorically state here that it has become imperative for the government and ASUU to understand the position of Nigerian students in the tripod that constitutes the university community, which is management, teachers and students.
“Having taken a holistic review of the details inherent in the agreement as signed by FG and ASUU, it has become germane for us to call on ASUU to reconsider its present adamant stand on the continued closure of our universities.
“We must, as Nigerians, accept that the problem with our universities have developed over decades and would, therefore, be unimaginable that ASUU with its present stance want it totally resolved within the spate of four years that this agreement was signed.”
Contacted on phone, ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Faggae, did not respond. When contacted via text, he declined comments.
