What Is the DELT-Her Initiative?
The Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) Initiative is a structured support program to close the gender gap in Nigeria’s engineering and technology sectors. It offers mentorship, technical backing, and startup development support to Nigerian women engineers who create creative, workable solutions to real-world challenges.
This initiative is inspired by global efforts such as the Anita Borg Institute and UN Girl Up! The campaign aims to nurture female leadership in STEM fields by supporting early-stage innovations and making successful women in engineering more visible and influential.
Program Objectives
The DELT-Her Initiative 2025 is designed to:
- Support groundbreaking engineering solutions developed by Nigerian women
- Advanced gender inclusivity in the fields of engineering and technology
- Establish networks between academic institutions, tech hubs, and investors
- Encourage the next generation of female engineers by spotlighting success stories
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the DELT-Her Initiative, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Gender: Female
- Nationality: Nigerian citizen
- Age: 23 to 45 years
- Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering
- Project Proposal: Must submit a clear, practical engineering solution or innovation
- Team Composition: Project teams must consist of at least 60% women
Note: Applications from individuals and female-led teams are welcome, but proposals with diverse skills and strong female representation will be prioritized.
