Established in 2011, Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has rapidly evolved into a vibrant academic community with:
- 3 Colleges – Medicine, Health Sciences, and Postgraduate Studies
- 16 Faculties
- 14 Centres and 18 Directorates
- A School of Basic and Remedial Studies
- 82 undergraduate programmes and a growing list of postgraduate courses, both regular and online

Role of the Vice-Chancellor
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer of the university. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic academic leadership
- Managing human, financial, and physical resources
- Maintaining discipline and harmony within the university community
- Strengthening relationships with government, industry, and international partners
- Enhancing research capacity and attracting funding
- Ensuring proper application of ICT in teaching, research, and administration
Eligibility Criteria | FULAFIA Vacancy for Vice-Chancellor
Applicants must:
- Hold a PhD or equivalent from a recognised institution
- Have an academic career progression from Assistant Lecturer/Lecturer II to Professor
- Maintain a consistent academic discipline from a first degree to a doctorate
- Have served as a Professor for at least 7 years by February 2026
- Have delivered an inaugural lecture
- Present a 1,000-word vision statement for the university’s next five years
- Demonstrate capacity to attract research grants and manage funds transparently
- Possess strong interpersonal, diplomatic, and entrepreneurial skills
- Have no history of financial mismanagement or misconduct
- Be proficient in English (written and spoken) and ICT integration in academia
- Be physically and mentally fit
- Be below 65 years at the time of appointment
Terms of Appointment
- Tenure: Single, non-renewable five-year term
- Conditions: In line with the Federal Universities Act and applicable public service provisions
