Ghana Universities Woo Nigerian Students

Ghana Universities woo Nigerian Students – Alhaji Abdulahi Abukari, the Consul-General of Ghana High Commission, on Friday advised Nigerians to take advantage of educational opportunities in his country.

GHScholars reports that, Abukari gave the advice at the closing ceremony of the second Ghana International Education Fair held at the consulate premises in Lagos.

He assured Nigerians, interested in studying in Ghana, of stable academic calendar and facilities.

The consul-general said that the fair was organised to share information on education opportunities in Ghana  with prospective Nigerian students.

“The fair seeks to avail relevant information concerning education in Ghana to parents and young Nigerians.

“It is to admit qualified young men and women who wish to study in well established, acknowledged and accredited higher learning institutions in Ghana.

“The fair is a means to promote the growth in Ghana’s educational system and find solutions to problems of students in other African countries,” he said.

According to him, there are currently over 250 higher education institutions in Ghana.

He expressed the institutions’ commitment to producing  employable graduates who would fit into the competitive job market.

Abukari expressed optimism that the fair would create right links between the prospective students and their institutions of choice.

He commended the I-Texon Ghana, the organisers of the fair, for taking the bold initiative of promoting Ghana’s education system across Africa.

Ms Charlotte Owusu, the Director of the Fair, said that the fair was organised to promote Nigerians’ interest in Ghana institutions.

“We are here for a purpose. We want more Nigerian students to come into our country for education.

“We are, therefore, here to create a right platform for Nigerians willing to study in Ghana,” she said.

Owusu said that fair was attended by 10 Ghana public and private institutions.

The institutions included Regent University College of Science and Technology, Wiscosin International University College, Central University and Ghana Technology University College.

Others are University of Ghana, University of Professional Studies, Accra Polytechnic and University of Energy and Natural Resources, Ghana. (NAN)
