JAMB To Conduct Paper-Pencil, Computer-Based Tests in 2014

JAMB candidates who have been asking if JAMB will truly make UTME only CBT from 2015, YES, it has been confirmed. JAMB will however, still conduct Paper-Pencil,Computer-Based Tests in 2014.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board on Thursday said 2015 had been fixed as terminal date for paper-based test.

The Deputy Director, Quality Assurance of the board, Francis Ojo, said this in Ado-Ekiti at a workshop organised for final year students of secondary schools.

The workshop was to sensitise students in the state on the use of computer-based test.

Ojo said there was nowhere in the world where public examinations such as the UTME were still paper-based.

The JAMB official urged both parents and their wards to embrace the computer-based test, saying it was to their advantage if they do so.

He listed the advantages derivable from it to include early release of result not lasting more than 72 hours, absence of manipulations, zero result seizure as well as absence of external influences.

Ojo expressed regrets that the mock test staged for select students at the on-going sensitisation programme indicated that they did not know how to open the computer or enter their names.

Also speaking on the occasion, Ekiti State Director of JAMB, Mrs Elizabeth Adeyemo, said government was optimistic that many students would be attracted to use the computer by the time the workshop ended.
