Kano Govt Screens 16,000 Teachers For Mass Literacy

The Kano State Government has screened 16,000 teachers for training in adult and mass literacy education.

This was contained in a statement by Mr. Mus Tanko, Public Relations Officer of the State Agency for Mass Education, in Kano on Saturday.

The statement quoted Prof. Fatima Umar, Executive Secretary of the agency as saying the screening was to ensure that the right people were selected for training.

“The teachers would be trained in all the 44 local government areas of the state to teach the students how to read and write.’’

It said Fatima charged the teachers to work diligently as their selection was based on competence.

NAN reports that the teachers are expected to teach 403,700 adults in the 44 local government areas of the state under the Mass Literacy Programme.
