Gov. Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi said on Thursday the state government had approved the payment of N1.09 billion to the contractors handling the feeding of students in secondary schools.
Dakingari stated this in Birnin Kebbi when he addressed the contractors who paid him a solidarity visit.
He said the payment was for four months, adding that “the balance of the remaining four months would be paid after verification.
“We would investigate the increase in amount to be spent on feeding the students to ensure financial prudence.”
He assured the contractors that after the verification, payment would henceforth be on monthly basis.
The Chairman of the contractors, Alhaji Isiya Katanga, commended the government for the payments.
Katanga said that the contractors would ensure fairness and equity in feeding the students. (NAN)
