Kogi State University Lecturers Suspend 2-Month Old Strike

Kogi State University (KSU) striking lecturers have suspended the industrial action. The strike has been ongoing for two months and following this suspension of the strike, the school will resume academic activities.

It would be recalled that the workers embarked on strike when the chairman of SSANU, KSU chapter, Comrade Moses Balogun, said that the workers were suffering from poor welfare and gross mismanagement had reduced the quality of learning in the institution.

He had also went on to blame the university governing council and the management for the unfortunate fall in quality of the institution.

Balogun added that the unions had signed an agreement with the state government in 2009 over the improvement of workers welfare but the government was yet to act on it.

The striking workers had agreed to call off the industrial action after representatives of the  Student Union Government (SUG) of the school appealed to them to do so.

Following this development, the management of the university have directed that academic activities resumes immediately.
