Kwara State College Of Health Technology admission application for the 2016/2017 academic session has commenced. Interested members of the public that wish to study in the university are hereby informed to check for the programmes available as well as their requirements for the 2016/17 session.
PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE AND THEIR ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
|1||Health Education||Health Education Technical (HET)||3||5 “O” Level credit passes to include English Language, Biology and any 3 other science related subjects.|
|2||Dental Health||Dental Surgery|
|3||Five (5) credit passes in not more than two sittings to include English Language, Chemistry, Biology and any other 2 of the following: Physics, Agricultural Science, Geography, Mathematics in SSCE, WASC, NECO or NABTEB.|
|Dental Health Technology (DHT)||4|
|3||Environmental Health Sciences||ND National Diploma in Environmental Health Technology||2||Five credits in SSCE (NCO or WASC) or GCE “O” Level at not more than two sittings. The subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Physics, Chemistry, Agric. Science.|
|EVT Environmental Health Technician||3||At least three 3 credits and two passes at not more than 2 sittings in (SSCEWASC, NECO). The subject include English Language, Biology/Health Science, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric.Sci.|
|EHA Environmental Health Assistant||2||At least four (4) passes in GCE, SSCE, NECO, Grade II Teacher certificate or NABTEB in not more than two sittings. The subjects include Biology/Health Science, Food and Nutrition, Physics, General or Integrated Science, Agric Sci., Geography, Chemistry.|
|Health Information Management Nation Diploma (ND)||2||A minimum of five (5) credit passes in the relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sitting at the SSCE, WASC. The subject must include Mathematics, English Language, Biology/Health Sciences Plus two subjects chosen from Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Geography.|
|5||Nutrition||Community Nutrition Technician||3||A minimum of four (4) credit “0” Level in WASC, SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB in not more than two sitting of the same examination body. The subjects include Biology, Chemistry/Health Sci., Physics, or any other sciences subject plus at least passes in English and Mathematics.|
|6||Public Health Nursing||Public Health Nursing (PHN)||2||5 passes at credit level, in English Language, Mathematics, any three (3) science subjects plus Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwife (RM), 1 year post basic qualification for RN, plus any post any post basic qualification in Nursing (e.g. A & E Nursing, pre-operative Nursing) psychiatric Nursing or sporadic Nursing.|
|Health Technician||3||5 credit passes in English, Mathematics, Health Science and any other two subjects in WASCE or NECO at not more than two sittings;|
Nomination and support by the LGA/other organization
|7||Pharmacy||Pharmacy Technician (PHT)||3||At least four (4) passes in GCE, WASC or SSCE of WAEC, NECO, not more than two sittings. The subjects include Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and English Language.|
|8||Community Health||Junior community Health Extension Workers (JCHEW)||2||5 credit passes in English, Mathematics, biology,Health Science and any other two subjects in WASCE or NECO.|
Five ‘O’ Level Credit passes at WASSC/NECO which include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The Department admits students through these routes.
- College Entrance Examination
- Remedial Studies run by the College Management
The programme structure includes period of formal studies in the College (2 years), Projects, vival and Industrial Training (1 year). Total 3 years.
Industrial Training is observed for 2 months after each session in the first and second year before going at a stretch for 1 year
Application with the following qualification may be considered for the X-Ray Technicians Programme.
Five (5) ‘O’ Level Credit passes at WASSC/NECO which include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. The Five (5) ‘O’ Level credit are to be obtained at no more than two sitting. The recoginezed examination bodies are:
- National Examination Council (NECO).
- West African Examination Council (WAEC).
The duration shall be a three (3) academic session which is equivalent to six (6) academic semesters including supervised clinical work experience.
PROSTHETICS AND ORTHOTICS TECHNOLOGY
Minimum of four ‘O’ Level Credit at GCE, WASC or NECO in the following subjects at NOT more than two sitting.
1 credit in Biology or Health Science
1 credit in passes Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing
2 credit in any other subjects.
At least passes in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory.
The National Diploma (ND) programme is terminal. The programme is of two (2) years duration of four (4) semesters of 15weeks each and total of 1800 contact hours.
The training programme consists of ND-two year in the institution (College) and one year compulsory supervised clinical attachment. This qualifies the diplomate as Prosthetics and Orthotics Technology registarble with the professional body.
For admission into the three years (3) Professional Certificate in Ophthalmic Technician (OPT) Programme. Candidates must possess the followings:
Senior secondary school Certificate (SSSCE) WAEC/NECO with Credit Passes in Five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in not more than two sittings.
PROGRAMME DURATIONThree (3) years, Six (6) semesters of Theoretical and field practical sessions
