LASU ACEITSE Postgraduate Programmes Admission Form 2019/2020
The Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE), Lagos State University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following postgraduate programmes for the 2019/2020 academic session.
About LASU ACEITSE
The Africa Centre of Excellence (ACE) Project is an initiative of the World Bank, co-funded by the Bank and Agence Francaise de Deve/oppement (AFD). The Association of African Universities (AAU), the Regional Facilitation Unit (RFU) recently announced LASU’s ACEITSE as one of the current centres of excellence in 12 West and Central African countries. ACEITSE is poised to bring into the delivery of science, technology and mathematics education and educational management and leadership, a unique strategy that will produce innovative and transformative teachers (educators), capable of stimulating and sustaining the desired improvement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics education at all levels.
A degree from this Centre, funded by the World Bank, will accord holders global esteem and recognition. Staff are drawn from the best pool of global experts in STEM. The delivery of the curriculum will be in ultramodern teaching and research facilities and students in the Centre will be international, drawn from French and English-speaking African countries.
Available LASU ACEITSE Postgraduate Courses
The following programmes are available at the Centre in 2019/2020:
- Master’s Degree programmes
- M.Sc. STEM Education and Entrepreneurship (with specialisation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics)
- M.Sc. ICT Education (with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence or Cyber Security)
- Ph.D. Courses
- Ph.D. STEM Education and Entrepreneurship (with specialisation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics);
- Ph.D. ICT Education (with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence or Cyber Security).
LASU ACEITSE Admission Requirements
Duration: The masters programmes of the Centre will be for three semesters while the doctoral programmes will last a duration of six semesters.
General and Special Requirements:
The Centre requires credit-level passes in five subjects including English Language and Mathematics at Ordinary Level (GCE, WASC and SSCE) or their equivalent in relevant African countries for ALL Courses. Specifically, the following entry requirements apply for the different programmes.

STEM Education and entrepreneurship (with specialisation in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics) | • Credit level passes at SSCE (WAEC or NECO) or equivalent in five subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any one of: Biology, Health Science and Agricultural Science at NOT more than two sittings;• Bachelor’s degree in any Science Education discipline or Mathematics Education with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division (2-2) degree; and• Bachelor’s degree in any science discipline or Mathematics with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Division (2-2) degree plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). |

LASU ACEITSE Postgraduate Form Application Method
All applicants are expected to pay a non-refundable application fee online. Applicants from Nigeria are to pay the sum of twenty-five thousand Naira (N25,000:00) only while international applicants are required to pay the sum of one hundred dollars ($100:00) only. All applicants shall be required to sit for a qualifying entrance examination in the Faculty of Education on the Main Campus of the Lagos State University, Ojo, on dates to be communicated to applicants via their email addresses. International students will have entrance examination conducted online, details of which will be emailed to them.
LASU ACEITSE Application Deadline
The closing date for the application form is six weeks from the date of this publication. Candidates should ensure that their academic transcripts are received at the Centre before the closing date. It is the responsibility of each applicant to ensure that his/her transcript reaches the ACEITSE, Lagos State University within this time interval.
Transcripts should be sent under confidential cover by the university where the candidate graduated from to the Director, Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative and STEM Education (ACEITSE), Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.
Application forms for all programmes should be submitted online and a copy of the e- registration slip printed out by the applicant for his or her records.
General Information:
- Candidates (Nigerians) who have not completed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps assignment or are currently on Postgraduate Programmes need NOT
- All Nigerian candidates must personally attend the selection examination. As stated earlier, international candidates will be expected to take a qualifying examination online.
