Here is the list of the most sought after universities in Nigeria for the 2018/2019 admission year. These universities are the top most-chosen Universities during the 2018 JAMB UTME registration – they have the highest number of candidates seeking admission into them.

This infographic below is based on data released by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) at its 2018 Policy Meeting held on Tuesday, 26th June, 2018, at Bola Babalakin Auditorium,Gbongan, Osun State.

Top Ten Most Sought After Universities (JAMB UTME 2017)

The list is topped by the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) with 86,401 students of the 1,722,236 total applicants seeking admissions into the 40 federal universities in Nigeria.

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria comes in second with student-applicants of 74,635. ABU Zaria is closely followed by University of Benin (UNIBEN) Edo State in third position with 70,322 applicants.

Below is the list of the top 10 Universities in Nigeria in terms of numbers of applicants:

  1. University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) – 86,401
  2. Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) – 74,635
  3. University of Benin (UNIBEN) – 70,322
  4. University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) – 66,486
  5. University of Lagos (UNILAG) – 62,436
  6. Bayero University Kano (BUK) – 56,261
  7. Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) – 48,646
  8. Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) – 48,554
  9. University of Ibadan (UI) – 47,544
  10. University of Jos (UNIJOS) – 46,082
