What the Scholarship Offers

This is not a one-off workshop or short-term training. The MTN Muson Music Scholarship covers a two-year full-time Diploma in Music, structured to meet international academic and Performance standards. The program is delivered by MUSON, one of Nigeria’s most respected music institutions, with full sponsorship from MTN Foundation.

Successful applicants will receive:

Important Dates

Applicants must be prepared for both written and practical assessments. The schedule is as follows:

  • Written Examination (Music Theory & General Knowledge)
  • Date: Tuesday, 2nd September 2025
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Practical Auditions (Instrument or Voice)
  • Date: 3rd – 5th September 2025

Participation in both components is mandatory for all applicants.

MTN Muson Music Scholarship Program Structure

Every student admitted under the MTN Muson Music Scholarship will major in one of the following instruments or disciplines:

  • Instruments: Piano, Organ, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion, Classical Guitar
  • Voice: Classical Vocal Performance

Additional Academic Requirements:

  • All instrumentalists must take voice training
  • Vocal majors must pass at least Grade 2 Piano during the course
  • Participation in performance groups (Choir, Orchestra, or Band) is compulsory

Who is Eligible?

To qualify for the MTN Muson Music Scholarship, applicants must meet both academic and musical requirements.

Academic Requirements:

  • Minimum of five O’Level credits, including English Language, in not more than two sittings
  • Acceptable qualifications include WAEC, NECO, or GCE O’Level

Musical Requirements:

  • Grade 5 or higher in Music Theory
  • Grade 5 or higher in Performance (instrument or voice)
  • Certifications must be from MUSON or recognized international bodies like ABRSM, Trinity College London, etc.

Note:

Candidates who excel in Performance but are behind in theory may be admitted on the condition that they take and pass a remedial theory class in Year One.
