When The Guardian got to the university at noon yesterday, some pockets of students were seen still protesting at the gate while a handful of stern looking policemen tried to put the situation under control.

However the Vice Chancellor, Professor Humphrey Ogoni, in a circular directed all the students to proceed on mid-semester break immediately to avoid any break down of law and order on the campus.

The Vice Chancellor in the circular signed by the school Registrar, ordered the students to vacate the campus on or before 3pm, adding that a new date for resumption will be communicated to them.

On the students’ grievance, he said he has already sent a memo to the concern faculty to look at modalities of reviewing the law to conform to the standard set up by National Universities Commission, (NUC).
