NECO Questions Leakage: State Exam Officers Reshuffled

NECO has reshuffled State Exam Officers over in order to prevent Exam Questions leakage and examination malpractice. Recall that we informed you few days ago that some NECO exams will be postponed as a result of alleged examination questions leakage.

NECO Reshuffles State Officers Over Exam Questions Leakage

The National Examination Council (NECO) yesterday reshuffled its states’ officers nationwide in a bid to stem examination malpractices, Daily Trust reports.

Also, all examination administrators (exam supervising officers) were swapped, a source from the council said.

The swap was effective from yesterday and all affected officers were directed to report to their new duty posts without delay.

“The council is worried about the increasing cases of examination malpractice during exams, hence the resolve to swap the affected officers in order to end the practice,” a source told Daily Trust.

The exercise is meant only for on-going NECO examinations and the affected officers may be recalled back to their former stations when the exams are over. The examination is expected to end by July 10.

It would be recalled that the Council had postponed the Mathematics paper scheduled to hold yesterday (Monday) over an allegation of leakages. When contacted on phone, Special Assistant to the Registrar on Media, Dr.Eke Anyeamachi said the swapping exercise was routine in the council.

Meanwhile, the council has denied knowledge of plans by its staff to embark on strike over unpaid allowances.

Dr. Anyeamachi said: “There was no such plan by the council’s staff. I went round the council but I could not find anything like that; I am sure the person that relates the information to the press is not a NECO staff because there was nothing like that in the council.” (Daily Trust)
