[SAD NEWS] : OAU student dies in auto crash.

A 200-Level student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Semilore Amoo on Saturday died in an auto crash.

Two of his colleagues also sustained injuries in the accident which occurred about 48 hours before  the commencement of their first semester examination.

The deceased and his colleagues, Sunday Eyitayo and Ganiyu Azeez, were travelling to Osogobo when the accident occurred along Sir Adesoji Aderemi Road, Ile Ife.

Amoo, 24, was a student in the department of Public Administration.

Our correspondent gathered that the students were travelling in a Toyota Corolla with registration number GNN 143 AA, when it somersaulted, and Amoo, who was behind the wheel ,died instantly.

An indigene of Ilesha, Osun State, the deceased has been buried on Sunday in Osogbo.

When  our  correspondent visited the scene of the accident, eyewitnesses said it might have occurred due to over -speeding.

One of the survivors, whose father owns the car, Tayo, said Amoo wanted to go and collect some materials for his examination which started on Monday, when they had the accident.

He described the development as unexplainable.

He said, “Though I sat beside him (Amoo), I can’t just fathom what caused the accident. It is still unclear to me.”

The Chief Security Officer of the OAU, Mr. Paul Ogidi, confirmed the incident to our correspondent.
