A final year student of Computer Science of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwasht-uku, at the weekend fell into a well and drowned while fleeing from armed robbers.

The student, Victor Onyeka from Ndokwa West Council Area of the state was reported to have resumed for this year’s academic session only last week after spending last semester holiday with his parents in their community.

According to eyewitness account, Victor was said to have visited his course mate who lives in another house within the metropolis on the day of the incident.

“Around 8:00 pm, he asked his friend to accompany him to his house so that he could boil the soup he cooked in the morning of that day.

“On their way, somewhere around the interior part of Agidiase quarters where most of the private hostels were located, a gang of robbers on a motorcycle accosted Victor, his friend and two other girls, whom they met on the way as they were going to the deceased house. They robbed the two girls and the deceased friend at gun point. It was at this time the deceased escaped and ran into a building close to the area”.

Further findings revealed that his co-students traced the deceased to the area he ran into only to discover he had fallen into the well.

“Despite the alarm that was raised by the students in their bid to save the dying youth, they could not save him. The owner of the well was equally handicapped as he could not make any effort to save the situation,” said another source.
