Federal Government Scholarship Awards in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions.

The Federal Government Scholarship Awards can be used in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions, and are open for applications every year.

The Federal Ministry of Education is inviting applications from eligible Nigerian students enrolled in Nigerian tertiary institutions in Nigeria every year.

States Starting With A to C

Many, if not all state governments in Nigeria offer some form of scholarship or bursary awards to students from their states. They are more popularly known as state of origin awards.

The challenge with finding many of them is that the application method is manual. Therefore, you have to manually track the application timeline and requirements.

Often times, you can find out through the state students body in your school (e.g. Ogun State Students Association for students of Ogun origin) or by going to your state’s ministry of education.

Abia State Government Scholarship Awards

Commonly offered to two students from each of the 17 local government areas in the state. To apply, you have to go to the Abia State Scholarship Board (ASSB) office. You can find their address online.

Adamawa State Scholarship Trust Fund

Akwa Ibom State Origin Scholarship Scheme

His Excellency, the Education friendly Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has approved the Award of Scholarships to 500 (Five Hundred) indigent (very poor) but intelligent students of Akwa Ibom State origin, studying in Federal or State Universities in Nigeria with effect from the 2021/2022 academic session valued at N200,000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira) only for each student, per session.

Anambra State Scholarship Scheme

The State’s Bursary of Anambra usually sponsors the scholarship. These Undergraduate scholarships in Nigeria are intended to help students at learning institutions.

Lagos State Scholarship Award (Local)

The Lagos State Government provides locals and residents with both domestic and international aids. In this article, we will focus on the local scholarship only.

Unless otherwise instructed by His Excellency, this is for prospective students who are from Lagos State. In Nigerian higher institutions, students should be enrolled full-time rather than part-time in their studies.

NGOs and Private Companies Scholarships

Agbami Scholarship Awards

Some courses, including Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Engineering, are fully funded by this Agbami Nigeria Limited although not all courses are considered.

To become eligible for these undergraduate scholarships in Nigeria, you must not have other financial aids and must be standing at Second Class Upper level in school (CGPA requirement).

Engineering students receive a hundred thousand Naira (N100,000) while medical students receive two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000).

Agip Scholarships for Nigerian Undergrad Students

The Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) collaborates with NNPC (60%), NAOC (20%), and Oando (20%) in a joint venture. They work in the Niger Delta’s swamp and rural areas.

The offer two categories of scholarship. They include the National Merit Award–for applicants from Non-Host communities (overseas), and Host Communities Merit Award–for applicants strictly from NAOC Host Communities (Niger Delta, Nigeria).

Host Community means students from Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers states.

Mobil Nigeria Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

Students in Nigerian numerous universities are eligible to apply for the Mobil Nigeria National Undergraduate Scholarship Awards. The award is open to deserving students from all of the Federation’s states (not just the Niger Delta), including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of its joint venture (JV) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), awards 500 first degree university scholarships annually to students in Nigerian universities

NWAG Scholarship for Nigerian Women

Every year, the Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG) offers scholarships for 37 Nigerian female undergraduate students. One award goes to one person per state of origin in Nigeria. You can use the financial support at any university and any course of study.

The amount of money you get is the sum of fifty thousand Naira only (N50,000).

David Oyedepo Foundation Scholarships

This financial award is available in Nigeria for African Students. In other words, African students can redeem the award from the scholarship scheme for studying in Nigeria.

The scholarship scheme awards full ride scholarships to qualified individuals who are indigenes and residents of African countries (that is, international students from Africa). 

The scheme seeks to develop youth leaders who are ready to put their learned skills to work in leading organizations, communities and their local countries.

The scholarship grants any qualified student the opportunity to study at Covenant and Landmark University, Nigeria.

Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Program for Undergraduate Students

This is a university scholarship scheme available for studying in Nigerian universities in full time courses. Scholars who meet the criteria will become beneficiaries of one Four Million Naira Scholarships For 20 to 40 Nigerian Students in Nigeria tertiary institution.

The 20 to 40 university scholarships are tenable for full time programmes at Nigerian higher institutions including Universities, Polytechnics and College of Education.

MUSTE Scholarships for Undergraduate Nigerian Students

Mr. Jim Ovia established and funded the Jim Ovia Foundation Scholarships in 2004 to offer financial aid to deserving Nigerian youths.

In 2007, the scheme gave birth to the MUSTE scholarship, which provides recipients with assistance for undergraduate studies for the entirety of their undergraduate career.

The total aid includes tuition and maintenance allowance. The program offers an average of 100 opportunities every year.

It is open to any undergraduate of Nigerian citizenship. One hundred (100) awardees are selected each year from a pool of eligible applicants.

This is the first undergraduate scholarships by the joint venture between Nigerian Petroleum Development Company Limited and Seplat Petroleum Development Company Plc.

Addax Petroleum/NNPC Nigeria Limited Scholarship Programme

For full-time undergraduate scholars enrolled in any university across the country, polytechnic, or college of education who are pursuing a degree at the 100-level.

Addax Petroleum Development (Nigeria) Limited offers the National Tertiary Institutions Scholarship Awards.

Total Nigeria Scholarship – National Merit Awards

Each year, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited (TEPNG) demonstrates a high level of commitment towards the educational development of Nigerian Students through its annual grants of scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in secondary and tertiary institutions as well as those in postgraduate studies.
