The University of Ilorin invites applications from qualified candidates for admission into various Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs for the academic session beginning 2 October 2025 and ending 30 September 2026.

Available UNILORIN Postgraduate Programmes

1. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

• Eligibility: Master’s degree holders (M.A., M.Ed., M.Eng., M.Sc., LL.M., M.P.H.) with a minimum of 60% score or 4.0/5.0 CGPA
• Duration:
  • Full-time: 36–60 months
  • Part-time: 48–72 months
• Requirements: Original research and thesis submission

2. M.Phil./Ph.D. Transitional Programme

• Eligibility: Master’s degree holders with 55–59.99% score or CGPA of 3.50–3.99
• Duration: Full-time: 12–24 months
• Progression: Students scoring 60% after the first year can upgrade to a Ph.D.

3. Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)

• Eligibility: Master’s degree holders with 50–54.99% score or CGPA of 3.00–3.49
• Duration: Full-time: 18–24 months
• Requirement: Completion of a research project

4. Master’s Degree Programmes (M.A., M.Sc., M.Eng., M.Ed., M.P.H., LL.M)

• Eligibility: Bachelor’s degree (minimum second-class lower)
• Duration:
  • Full-time: 18–24 months
  • Part-time: 36–48 months
• Requirement: Coursework and research project

5. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

• Requirement: Completion of required coursework

UNILORIN Postgraduate Admission Requirements 2025/2026

General Entry Requirements

• O’Level: Five credits, including English Language and Mathematics
• Certificates must be uploaded during the application.
• NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate must be submitted by 30 September 2025

Specific Requirements

• Master’s applicants: Second-class lower from a recognized institution. Candidates from other disciplines must pass a qualifying exam.
• Ph.D. applicants: Master’s with a minimum 60% or 4.0 CGPA. Departments may conduct interviews.
• International Applicants: Those from non-English-speaking countries must submit TOEFL or IELTS. They are exempt from entrance exams.
