UNIBEN Recruitment 2018: Academic & Non-Academic Vacancies

University of Benin (UNIBEN) recruitment for academic and non-academic staff vacancies is currently ongoing. In a job advert published on 19th July, 2018, the management of the institution announced the vacancies for the positions below.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for appointment to the underlisted academic and non-academic positions in the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria.

UNIBEN Recruitment

University of Benin Academic Positions Vacancies:

1. University Librarian

JOB DESCRIPTION: The University Librarian shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the administration of the University Library and coordination of the Library services in the University and its Campuses, Colleges, Faculties, Schools, Institutions, Departments and other teaching or research Units.

THE PERSON: Applicants for the post of University Librarian must have, in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competence, responsiveness, demonstrable integrity and transparency on matters of Library administration and management. Applicants must be in good health and able to endure the rigours of the duties of the University Librarian. Also, candidates must possess the following qualities: vision, proven academic distinction, managerial ability, integrity and transparency in private and public life. In addition, candidates should have the ability to develop linkages with the external communities to support the emerging needs of the University, command respect and arouse cooperation and loyalty to staff and students of the University.

Candidates are to write in not more than five hundred (500) words, their vision for the University Library Services Development and management for the next five years.

Prospective candidates must show innovative approaches to the running of an ICT-driven Library, working at the highest level of efficiency to promote and sustain a vibrant Library including an e-library of world class standard with up to date volumes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess a good honours degree in Library Science and a Ph.D in Library and Information Science. Must have contributed to knowledge through copious research and publications in reputable journals.

PLUS:
Fifteen (15) years post-qualification experience and must have risen to the position of Deputy University Librarian in a University setting or similar institutions.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:
The successful candidate shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only but may upon satisfactory performance be extended by Council for a further period of one year (and no more) on such terms and conditions applicable to Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by appropriate University Laws and Governing Council.

Candidates who do not have the required five (5) years for a full term before retirement need not apply.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN of all Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time-to-time by the Government/Governing Council as appropriate.

2. Deputy University Librarian

The Person:
Applicant for the post of Deputy University Librarian must have in the past exhibited considerable degree of competence, responsiveness on matters of administration and management of the Library.

He/She will be responsible to the University Librarian.

Job Description:
Deputy University Librarian shall be responsible to the University Librarian for the administration of libraries (both Central and Faculty Libraries) and for providing library services from these to the entire University community.

Qualification:
Applicant must possess a good University degree in Library Science and a Ph.D in Library and Information Science with fifteen (15) publications with at least 10 years relevant experience. Applicant must have contributed to knowledge through research and publications in reputable journals.

University of Benin Non-Academic Positions Vacancies

1. Deputy Bursar

Job Description:
The Deputy Bursar is an officer of the University and responsible to the Bursar for the day to day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University.

The Person:
Applicant for the post of University Deputy Bursar must have in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competency on matters of Bursary/Financial administration and management.

Qualification:
A good B.Sc degree or HND in Accounting from recognized institutions with institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) or Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN) and other foreign based professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACMA, CPA etc. that have been recognized and accepted by the two professional Accounting Bodies in Nigeria but with at least 15 years post qualification cognate experience in higher institution of learning.

2. Deputy Director of Works

Job Description:
The Deputy Director of Works is an officer of the University and responsible to the Director of Works for the day to day administration and management of works facilities in the University.

The Person:
Applicant for the post of University Deputy Director of Works must have in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competency on matters of administration and management of works facilities.

Qualification:
A good B.Sc degree Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Survey and Building Technology as well as a professional qualification e.g. COREN, ARCON and CORBON. Possession of higher degree will be an advantage with at least 15 years post qualification cognate experience in higher institution of learning.

3. Deputy Director of Physical Planning

Job Description:
The Deputy Director of Physical Planning is an officer of the University and responsible to the Director of Physical Planning for the day to day administration and management of works facilities in the University.

The Person:
Applicant for the post of University Deputy Director of Physical Planning must have in the past, exhibited considerable degree of competency on matters of administration and management of works facilities.

Qualification:
A good B.Sc degree Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Survey and Building Technology as well as a professional qualification e.g. COREN, ARCON and CORBON. Possession of higher degree will be an advantage with at least 15 years post qualification cognate experience in higher institution of learning.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Deputy University Librarian/Deputy Bursar/Deputy Director of Works/Deputy Director of Physical Planning of all Nigerian Federal Universities and as may be determined from time-to-time by the Government/Governing Council as appropriate.
