Why Is There Always More Publicity on ASUU Than ASUP Strike?

This is more like a discussion and I want you guys to contribute actively to this issue. The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has been on strike for about 3 months now and not many people knew about it until the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) embarked on an indefinite strike. That was when people started making reference to the ASUP strike.

ASUU STRIKE ASUP STRIKE

Good people, what do you think could be responsible for this? Are we to blame the Government for not paying much attention to Polytechnics, employers of labour for mostly preferring to go for people with BSc. Certificates or the media (Print and Electronic) for not covering and updating us on ASUP strike as much that of ASUU?

Or do we blame everything on the Government who have neglected the Polytechnics, making the Media and Employers of labour to not care much about them?

  1. I think nigerians are not fair 2 dem self,it is only in nigeria u r luk down upon cus u r an undergraduate or graduate of a polytechnic dats y we may never get it rit in dis country we attach honour to certificate more than skils so unfortunate dat dis is apening in nigeria, We av very gud graduate from d polytechnic buh dey are not given opporturnity 2 prove demself.as for me I think d issue is cus most of d people dat are at d helm of affairs are graduate from d university.we can see instance from our president, education ministers, and majority of education stake holders.not until ders a massive protest from both d graduate n undergraduate from d polytechnics across nigeria, notin will change.

    1. Thank you for sharing your views with us. We really appreciate that? I have friends that graduated from Polytechnics too but they don’t even get opportunity to prove themselves as some employers would only invite BSc holders only for tests and interviews.

  2. I’ll put the media @ fault. If ASUP got the Publicity ASUU is getting, they’ll probably hav resumed. Also our Govt is playin a good part in encouraging d discrimination, maybe bcos d stakeholders are Bsc. Holders.
I just hav this to say to all Polytechnic students/graduates.
U already find yrself in a biased labour market, so dont misuse opportunities, be a good ambassador, try to make up 4 what yr Certificate lacks by acquiring all necessary knowledge in yr chosen field & be relevant in yr work place. Perhaps wt distinguishing efforts, discriminations against Polytechnics ‘ll stop.

  3. the day nigeria start looking at ur knowledge, ur skill practicaly and not just shit of paper dat’s d day this economy hardship will end
