Will There Be JAMB This Year (2021)?

If you have been wondering if there will be JAMB UTME this year, you are definitely not out of line. By JAMB in this context, we mean the yearly UTME that JAMB conducts.

It is not uncommon for candidates to want to know when the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) UTME will take place. They strive to have this information so that they can prepare for the exam.

Will There Be JAMB This Year?

This question arose in light of the global pandemic caused by COVID-19. The virus has cased many diseases and death all over the world. Therefore, many countries have enforced lockdown of businesses and schools in order to slow down the spread of the virus.

Since one would normally expect gatherings such as the conduct of an examination sometimes written in large halls to not take place, this is a valid question. If you are preparing for JAMB, you would want to know if it will take place this year – 2021 and next year – 2022.

So, Will JAMB Conduct UTME This Year?

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on 6th January, 2021 gave an update. JAMB reopened its portal for the 2020/2021 admissions. This is to give schools access to upload names of shortlisted applicants for the 2020/2021 admissions.

Although, this is not a new about whether there will be JAMB UTME this year, it gives some hope. If JAMB could open the portal for schools to reopen and ASUU is also calling off its prolonged strike, UTME should hold.

What You Should Also Know

NOTE: JAMB has not confirmed anything regrading this information. We only think that it makes sense for JAMB to conduct UTME in 2021. If they can be bold enough to reopen portal for last year’s admission, then they should follow suit with JAMB registration.

Finally, if you are applying for JAMB UTME this year or next year, here are some information that will help.
