Even the one on http://abiapoly-edu.net/ does not contain any information.

As this is not available on the official website of the school, many candidates seeking admission into the Polytechnic wants to know. The registrable AbiaPoly courses are usually available in the JAMB Brochure. However, before candidates get their brochure, they want to have an idea of AbiaPoly admission requirements and all the courses they offer. This post will help you.

ABIAPOLY Admission Requirements 2016/17

The following are the Abia State Poly admission requirements for all the courses offered;

Accountancy

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following:

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics and two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics.

Architectural Technology

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Physics, English Language and any two subjects from the following:

A pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing.

Banking and Finance

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following:

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics and any two of Economics, Geography, History, Government, Commerce or Principles of Accounts.

Building Technology

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics and Physics and any three of the following:

And at least a credit pass in English Language is Compulsory and required for AbiaPoly admission into Building Technology. A pass in Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics, Physics/Technical Drawing, Chemistry or Fine Arts.

Business Administration & Management

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following:

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Same as in Accountancy.

Civil Engineering Technology

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two subjects from:

For Marine Engineering and Industrial Safety & Environmental Engineering a pass in Biology is required.

At least a credit pass in English Language is required.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics, Physics/Technical Drawing or Chemistry.

Computer Science

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, a basic science and three other subjects chosen from the following:

A credit passes in English Language and Physics are compulsory.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics or Chemistry.

NB: ABIAPOLY accept a pass in Physics.

Computer Engineering

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two subjects from:

For Marine Engineering and Industrial Safety & Environmental Engineering a pass in Biology is required.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics, physics, Chemistry/Technical Drawing.

Electrical/Electronics Engineering

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any two subjects from:

Therefore, at least a credit pass in English Language is required to meet the AbiaPoly admission requirements for Elect/Elect Engineering.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics, physics, Chemistry/Technical Drawing.

Estate Management and Valuation

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, English Language, a basic science subject and any two from the following:

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Mathematics and any two of Economics, Arts, Technical Drawing, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

Food Technology

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology/Agricultural Science/Health Science and any two of the following:

Geography plus at least credit passes in Physics and English Language.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Biology/Agricultural Science and any two of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and any one subject from:

Public Administration

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Science Laboratory Technology (SLT)

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics and two subjects from:

At least a credit pass in each of the three basic sciences – Biology, Chemistry, Physics and a credit pass English Language is compulsory.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Any three of Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science or Physics.

NB: ABIAPOLY require Physics/Chemistry as the third subject.

Office Technology and Management

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics and any three subjects from the following:

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Any three of:

  1. Mathematics
  2. Economics/Comm
  3. History/Govt.
  4. Geography
  5. CRS
  6. Principles of Accounts.

Statistics

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, a basic science and three other subjects chosen from the following:

Credit passes in English Language and Physics are compulsory.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Any of the two:

Urban and Regional Planning

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics, Geography and three other subjects from:

One of the three subjects to meet Abia State Poly admission requirements for Urban and Regional Planning must be a basic science subject. At least a credit pass in English Language is compulsory.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Geography and two other subjects from course requirement.

Surveying and Geo-Informatics

O’ Level Subjects Requirement;

Mathematics and Physics and any other three subjects from the following:

At least a credit pass in English Language is compulsory.

JAMB Subjects Combination (WAEC/NECO);

Any three of Chemistry/Agric. Science, Biology, Economics and Mathematics.
