Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) have 5 job vacancies; all of which were announced on the University website this week. The advertised positions will soon be vacant as the current occupants are at the end of their respective tenures. The advertised positions are:

  1. Registrar
  2. Bursar
  3. University Librarian
  4. Director of Physical Planning
  5. Director of Works and Maintenance

The positions will be filled in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act No. 11 of 1993 the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment Act 2012 and the Akwa Ibom State University Law. Job Description

The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University, except in financial matters where the Bursar takes precedent. He shall be the Secretary to the Governing Council, Senate, Congregation and the Convocation.

The Bursar is the Chief Financial Officer of the University. He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the University. He/She advises the Vice-Chancellor in planning and executing strategies for enhancing internal revenue generation as well as promoting the culture of “doing more with less” shall be required

Job Description

The University Librarian is a Principal Officer of the University. He/she is also the administrative and academic Head of the University Library. He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for day-to-day running of the University Library, and its orderly growth and development.

Duration of Tenure of University Principal Officers at AKSU

The tenure of the Registrar, Bursar and the University Librarian as Principal Officers of the University, is a single 5 (five) year term.

Salary and Conditions of  Service as Principal Officers at AKSU

The successful applicant for the post of Registrar and Bursar respectively will be placed on consolidated salary structure with the relevant benefits as applicable in the Nigerian University system; while the successful applicant for the post of the University Librarian will be placed on CONUASS 7 with relevant fringe benefits.

Job Description

The Director of Works and Maintenance is the Chief Technical Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day running and maintenance of University Buildings, Roads, Boreholes, Electrical Installations, Equipment and other properties as well as the provision of service and utilities for the well-being of the University.

Salary and Conditions of  Service/Tenure as Directors at AKSU

The successful candidate shall be placed on salary CONTISS 15. He shall hold office for a period of five (5) years from the effective date of appointment and may or may not be re-appointed on such terms and conditions applicable in Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined by the Governing Council of the University.
