Polytechnic lecturers’ two months salary yet to be paid, according to ASUP President. The National President, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Mr. Chibuzo Asomugha has said that the salary of the past two months are still been owed the striking lecturers.
Asomugha told reporters in Abuja that “the lecturers have not received their March and April salaries from the federal government.”
Until the recent development, several meetings were held between the Supervising Minister of education, Barrister Wike Nyesom and ASUP leaders but all ended in deadlock as no agreement was reached to end the strike.
Permanent Secretary of the ministry of education Mr Mac-John Nwaobiala, said earlier in the week that there was no budgetary allocation for the salary arrears of the striking lecturers.
The polytechnic lecturers have been on strike for 10 months now over their demands for government to improve the quality of polytechnic education in the country.
