SSANU Western Zone Shuts Down FUNNAB

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has reportedly shut down the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). Members of the union made barricades along the road and were seen burning woods and tree branches.

Some members were also seen carrying placards with inscriptions such as, “recall the sacked whistle blowers now” and “Ogunlewe and Oyewole, Criminals on the run”. This reference might be to the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Bamidele Oyewole who is reportedly currently under EFCC investigation after some “whistle blowers” in the University alerted the anti-graft agency of misappropriation of the University finances.

You will recall that the University was recently re-opened after being shut down due to students’ unrest, which saw them clash with the Police. More details coming soon.

We hope this issues get resolved on time so that students can get back to learning again.
