Can WAEC / NECO and NABTEB be Combined

So, Can WAEC / NECO and NABTEB be Combined for Admission?

The answer is YES! Since the Federal Government has endorsed Certificates awarded by NABTEB for admission to Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education in Nigeria. Even the Nigeria Defense Academy accepts NABTEB for admission.

Although schools have been mandated to accept NABTEB for admission, it doesn’t mean they will accept it in combination with NECO or WAEC. Therefore, if your plan is to combine WAEC or NECO results with NABTEB result, you should verify first.

What do you need to verify? You have to verify that the school allows combination of results. Some schools only allow one sitting. Similarly, since NABTEB is a technical and business exam, therefore they will only accept it for related courses.

Example of University which accept WAEC or NECO in combination with NABTEB as O’level result:

Kano State University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil allows candidates to use O’Level qualifications (NECO, WAEC or NABTEB) in not more than two sittings.

In conclusion, you should download and check the latest JAMB Brochure for the admission requirements of the school you are choosing. This will help you make more informed decisions.
