Can WAEC and NECO Be Combined? [Answered]

Can WAEC and NECO be combined as O’level result for admission? Many admission seekers are seeking answers to this pressing question. Because of this, we decided to address it in this post. So, can you combine WAEC and NECO results?

The answer to the question above is yes but it depends on schools (university, polytechnic or college) that you are applying to. The reason for this is that some schools don’t even accept two sittings. Therefore, there is even no talking about combining WAEC and NECO results in the first place.

Can Result of WAEC and NECO be Combined for Admission?

Yes schools allow combinations of results for admission but how do you knows schools that allow applicants to combine WAEC and NECo result? Well, that’s a job you have to do yourself.

Any school that states ordinary level (O’level) admission requires with statements like the following will allow you to combine results. Including results of National Examination Council (NECO) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

A. First example of MAUTECH: The school expects you to enter not more than two sittings of your O’level examination results.

B. UNIBEN for example: Candidates must have at least five(5) credits passes at GCE O/L, SSCE, NECO or their equivalent. The subjects must include English language, Mathematics (for courses for which a credit in mathematics is required) as well as three other relevant subjects (four if excluding mathematics) at not more than two sittings.

C. Lastly, for Federal Poly of Oil and Gas example: Interested candidates for admission must have 5 credits at not more than two sittings in SSCE/NECO/NABTEC examination. These must include English and Mathematics.

Now that you know this is possible, the onus is on you to confirm if the school you are choosing allows you to combine result. Check their o’level admission requirements before you apply.

Before you apply for admission, please check the latest JAMB brochure to check admission requirements. If they allow two sittings, then they will accept combination of WAEC and NECO results.
