UNILORIN Expels No Fewer Than 51 Students In 2 Years

The University of Ilorin said it expelled no fewer than 51 students for various academic offences in the last two years.

The university spokesman, Mr Kunle Akogun, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Thursday that the exercise was a routine one.

According to him, it is meant to sustain the rich tradition of the university in line with character and learning.

Akogun said that their offences ranged from being members of secret cults to bribing lecturers to upgrade their scores after examinations.

He said that others include examination malpractice, theft and Internet fraud, adding that the affected students were from various faculties of the institution.

He said those who were not expelled were either warned or exonerated or rusticated for a semester.
