Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following Post Graduate Programmes of the School of Public Health, University of Port Harcourt:

UNIPORT School of Public Health Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD): Minimum Duration: Full-time (12 months); Part-time (18 months) Applicants shall be required to have a good University Degree or HND with a minimum of Upper Credit or Higher Diploma in Community Health or its equivalent with at least a Credit pass in the professional examination

MASTERS PROGRAMMES: Minimum Duration: Full-time (12 months); Part-time (24 months).  Candidates would be required to have a minimum of a First Degree in Medicine or First Degree in fields related to the programme with at least a CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent. Holders of a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Health with a CGPA of 3.50 are also eligible.

The Occupational Medicine Programme is open to only registered medical practitioners, while the Community Health Programmes are open to only persons registered with the Community Health Practitioners’ Registration Board of Nigeria.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD) PROGRAMME: Full-time, minimum duration:  36 months; maximum duration 48 months; Part-time, minimum duration 60 months, maximum duration 72 months. Eligible candidates for these competitive programmes would have completed a Masters Degree in appropriate majors, with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 5-point scale.

DOCTOR OF PUBLIC HEALTH (DrPH) PROGRAMME: Full-time, minimum duration:  36 months; maximum duration 48 months; Part-time, minimum duration 60 months, Maximum duration 72 months. Candidates admitted into the DrPH programme should have either Masters/Doctoral Degree in a subject appropriate to the course of study; or Membership (Part 1)/Fellowship in Public Health from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, or its equivalent. Additionally, all DrPH candidates MUST have a minimum of five years post-NYSC experience in a Public Health position.

In addition to the above requirements, candidates for all the programmes must also satisfy the minimum matriculation requirements of the University of Port Harcourt.
