This is to inform intending postgraduate students particularly candidates looking to pursue an MSc abroad about the MSc Scholarships at London School of Economics (LSE) 2016/2017 academic session. London School of Economics and Political Science invites applications for Sub-Saharan Africa scholarships. Scholarships are available for pursuing MSc programmes at LSE.

The main objective of the university is to provide high quality, comprehensive educational and training opportunities that are compatible to changing needs of the students. The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is a world class centre for its concentration of teaching and research across the full range of the social, political and economic sciences.

Details of the MSc Scholarships at London School of Economics 2016/2017

The Scholarship will be taken at London School of Economics, UK. A full scholarship will cover fees and living costs, but the value for each student will be assessed according to financial need. As well as studying for a prestigious London School of Economics MSc programme, all PfAL Scholarship recipients will benefit from an additional study seminar series plus automatic enrolment into the PfAL-at-LSE leadership programme which takes place throughout the year.

Eligibility for 2016/2017 MSc Scholarships at London School of Economics

The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for this scholarship:

Nationality: Applicants from Sub-Saharan Africa can apply for this scholarship. Applicants who have not previously studied outside Africa. Applicants from Kenya, South Sudan, and Uganda. Applicants from Nigeria and Ghana, particularly those with interest in public sector careers.

English Language Requirements: If English is not applicant’s first language and if the language of instruction for their first degree is not English, school will ask them to provide evidence of their command of English. The most common qualification is the IELTS test. Applicants do not need to have the required marks when they apply, but they would form a condition of any offer that they received, and would have to be achieved before their arrival at LSE. In each case school require the test of English for Academic Purposes.

Their test should be no more than two years old by 1 October in the year they intend to start their programme. Other tests may be acceptable if they have already taken them, but conditions attached to offers will be set as required scores in the IELTS. If they are entering the UK on a student visa (tier 4), their language test scores must meet not just LSE’s requirements, but also those of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). Please note that test scores must be achieved from one sitting of the relevant qualification.
